Hi, I’m Coach Jon! Since you’re here … I might as well introduce myself!

I’m a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Master Health Coach (PN2-MHC), and I’ve worked with over 1,000 clients in the last decade. 🤯

But how the heck did I get here?

From Nanotechnology Researcher (University of Victoria), to Marine Engineer (Navy), to globetrotting English teacher (visiting 45 countries on 5 continents) to running a Nutrition and Supplement store, I’ve had a pretty interesting journey.

Somewhere amidst the crazy adventures of my life, though, I lost myself. I went through serious trauma while living in South Africa, and my weight ballooned up to 328lbs, as I grappled with PTSD, binge-eating, and I medicated my trauma with food.

One morning, in Istanbul, Turkey, I woke up and decided I didn’t want to be a victim to my past anymore. And so I embarked on the most challenging journey of my life.

What began with Bill Phillip’s book “Body For Life”, turned into trying nearly every major fad diet, from Keto, to Vegan, to Paleo, Blood-Type, Intermittent Fasting, Macro counting, and more.

Name a diet.  I’ve probably tried it. I didn’t just magically lose 100lbs overnight.

And here’s my conclusion: DIETS SUCK.

When I say “diets suck” I mean, they basically suck the joy out of life.  Yeah, let’s eat lettuce wrapped broccoli and  convince ourselves that we’re happy and satisfied, while we detox the pounds away from our “clean eating”.

Hey, y’know, you can lose weight eating cardboard with a side of celery.  No one’s denying that. But what happens when you say “forget this noise, I’ma smash a pizza, because at least it brings me joy in this painful world of dieting misery”

Oh yeah, and supplements?  I had an entire store at my disposal and I’ve tried nearly every conceivable supplement.

So, when I founded Freedom Nutrition Coaching, I said forget all the flashy, fad BS.  My approach to physique transformation  is simple, effective, and founded on time-tested, scientifically validated principles.

No quick-fix scams. No overpriced garbage supplements. No restrictive fad diets. No endless cardio. No belly wraps or Vaseline rubs. None of that works.  If it did, people wouldn’t be dropping $200 billion a year on it.

Here’s the thing.  Fat loss doesn’t actually have to suck.  Crazy, I know, right? You know you can actually lose fat and still live a reasonably normal life?

I can save you from the frustration and confusion of uncertainty that is all too common in this age of too much information, not enough help.

Together, we create an optimal plan for your body, so you can spend more time focusing on the fun stuff that being healthy allows you to do! Y’know, like climbing Kilimanjaro or Scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, or Cycling the mountains of France.

Fad Diets can take a flying leap off a cliff. We believe in complete food freedom. No foods are “good” or “bad”, and food guilt is a thing of the past. We believe in guidelines, not restrictions.

We make activity fit your lifestyle. Gone are hours of endless cardio. Instead, we come up with a plan that works for you. Gym? Home? Kettlebells? Bodyweight? You’ll find all of these inside your client portal and app.
